Lubrication Overview Course Outline Description: An introductory course in the types and uses of lubricants in modern industry today. This course focuses on the cooling and sealing actions, corrosion prevention abilities as well as the classifications and functions of lubricants. Properties of oils such as viscosity, flash point, pour point and fire point will also be covered. Objectives: Upon completion of this course the trainee should be able to: 1. Define what lubrication is what its purpose is. 2 Describe the four forms of lubricants. 3. Explain how viscosity is rated and measured in lubricating oils. 4. Name four factors that affect lubricant selection 5. Name four factors that affect lubricant selection.
