Workplace Basic Fluid Power for Operators Course Description: This is an introductory course on the basic principals fluid power including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The emphasis on this course is to give the student the knowledge to understand fluid power fundamentals including fluid force, torque, pressure and flow. Fluid power production from hydraulic pumps, air compressors as well as fluid power actuators including cylinders and motors will be explained. These components and systems will be explained in terms of basic theory of operation, and how they are most likely to fail. Objectives: Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to: 1. Explain how a hydraulic pump produces flow. 2. Explain how a pneumatic compressor produces air volume for system use. 3. Explain the terms; fluid power force, torque, pressure and flow. 4. Explain how a fluid power system most likely to break down. 5. Explain what senses you would use to detect problems in a fluid power system.
